We're looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join the Data Engineering team.

The role is involved in all phases of the agile delivery cycle, from initial discovery, problem analysis and scoping, epic and story definition and refinement, early prototyping and user feedback cycles, right through to implementation.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical advice to stakeholders and recommend improvements to data products and services
• Contribute to technical leadership and direction for data engineering practices within WCQ
• Participate in consultancy with organisational partners regarding effective use of data pipelines
• Work closely with product/project, architecture and cyber teams ensuring alignment with solution designs
• Design, build and test data products from multiple systems using various storage technologies
• Develop end-to-end data pipeline solutions covering integration, transformation, consolidation and scheduling
• Champion data engineering best practices using modern methods and tools
• Reduce existing technical debt and prevent introduction of new technical debt
• Promote cyber security mindset ensuring data engineering solutions are secure by design
• Mentor and coach entry level data engineers and contribute to their learning and development plans
• Collaborate across data analytics and engineering teams
• Contribute to building a culture that supports learning, collaboration, transparency, and inclusiveness

Essential Experience & Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in IT, Mathematics or data related fields (or progress towards)
• Minimum 4 years' experience in data engineering, data warehousing, data pipelines or BI reporting
• Experience with cloud computing architectures and services (e.g. AWS)
• Extensive experience with declarative, procedural and object-oriented programming languages (e.g. Python, SQL, R, SAS, Java etc)
• Experience with structured and unstructured data, relational and non-relational databases
• Experience with change management processes and agile environments
