Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm; Varies depending on events scheduled at BCC or weekends.
Job Summary: The Sales and Event Specialist plans, coordinates, and facilitates meetings and events at the Bryant Conference Center. Assesses clients' needs, negotiates details of campus arrangements. Develops creative solutions for space limitations and clients' budget constraints. Facilitates details of clients' events. Develops and administers noncredit programs delivered by Bryant Conference Center.
Additional Department Summary: Serves as a liaison between CEM and partners such as the Board of Directors, constituent groups, onsite facilities, and other relevant organizations to coordinate virtual and in-person event functions. Coordinates administrative and management services for existing and newly developed programs offered through Campus Event Management. Identifies and coordinates student and/or administrative support services for various events provided by Campus Event Management. This position involves high complexity, organization, and creative thinking skills. The incumbent is charged with coordinating and implementing all services required for the successful administration of events. The duties associated with this position require the ability to analyze information and make critical decisions. Incumbent must have the ability to cultivate mutually beneficial relationships with internal and external constituents that results in revenue. Incumbents must possess absolute knowledge of a broad spectrum of institutional and departmental policies and procedures.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher and some event planning, hospitality, marketing and/or public relations experience.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must be able to work occasional weekends, evenings, and holidays. Must be able to travel in-state and out-of-state.
Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.
Skills and Knowledge: Must possess strong database management skills and the ability to develop quantitative and qualitative data measurement instruments. General financial accounting skills, including the ability to review and analyze basic financial reports. Must possess strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Basic desktop computing skills (e.g. windows, Excel, etc.). General knowledge of institutional services such as Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Purchasing. Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (for example, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams). Ability to negotiate and make necessary recommendations for contractual arrangements within the department's guidelines and in accordance with University and State regulations. Knowledge of a broad spectrum of UA and departmental policies and procedures. Strong database management and analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in communications, education, business, liberal arts, or related subjects.
