Pay Grade/Pay Range:  Minimum: $27.21 - Midpoint: $35.35 (Hourly N9)

Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30am to 4:00pm; May require shift, weekend, and holiday work


Job Summary: The Electrical Controls Technician develops, maintains, upgrades, and installs all components of the lighting control systems and other building electrical controls. Performs daily checks and makes repairs to electrical, electronic control systems, and electrical equipment. Performs routine and preventative maintenance. Measures, calculates, tests, balances, and adjusts controllers, sensors, and other operational attributes of electrical systems. Analyzes and documents the design, application, and condition of existing electrical systems and electrical control systems. Interprets and works from specifications, plans, drawings, and blueprints. Drives from site-to-site.


Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED and six (6) years of electrical experience to include two (2) years of installing, testing, calibrating, and/or troubleshooting electrical and electronic controls; OR journeyman card in Electrical Maintenance and two (2) years of installing, testing, calibrating, and/or troubleshooting electrical and electronic controls. Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.


Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Final candidates must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.


Skills and Knowledge: Ability to lift, handle and maneuver the tools, materials and supplies of the job. Ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot blueprints, drawings, manuals, maps, schematics, and plans and do material takeoffs. Good interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Good written and verbal communications skills.


Preferred Qualifications: Two (2) years of experience using proprietary programming languages to enable and alter controls software, and entering these new programs into control system processors and memories.
