Job Summary: The Web Photography Student Assistant supports the Office of E-Tech with capturing photos and occasional video of people, places, and events for use in projects, primarily the Barefield College of Arts and Sciences website.
Additional Department Summary: The Photography Student Assistant will capture photos and occasional video of people, places, and events for use in projects of the Barefield College of Arts & Sciences eTech office, primarily the A&S website. Photographers will be paid by the hour, but work will be project-based and weekly hours will fluctuate. Many assignments will be after 5:00 p.m. (such as lectures, gallery events, and music, dance, and theatre performances); a few assignments will fall on weekends or occur off campus.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have and maintain a minimum 2.25 cumulative GPA for this position. Basic knowledge of Photoshop.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must be comfortable contacting, meeting, and directing students, faculty, staff, alumni, and others. Must be well versed in the fundamentals of good photographic composition. Must be experienced with DSLR cameras. Must have flexible weekday schedules with at least a few free blocks of time that are at least two hours long, be dependable and punctual, and be able to complete tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications: Video editing experience.
Enrollment Requirements: Applicants must meet enrollment requirements to be eligible for on-campus student employment. Applicants must be enrolled in a UA degree program and meet minimum credit hour requirements during the academic year: Undergraduate Students must be registered for at least 6 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; Graduate Students must be registered for at least 4.5 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; International Students must be registered full-time (Undergraduate = 12 credit hours, Graduate = 9 credit hours) during fall/spring semesters. Enrollment requirements must be maintained for the duration of on-campus employment. Individual hiring departments and programs may also have additional eligibility requirements for employment.
