For every child, a Champion

UNICEF Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) leads revenue generation and advocacy from the private sector to fund UNICEF programmatic activity and drive results for children. PFP is projected to generate over $ 7 billion for programs during the 2022-2025 strategic plan.

Within the Finance section of PFP, the Budget and Analysis Unit (BAU) supports the work of PFP in the following areas:

  1. Formulation, administration, and management of the PFP divisional budget.
  2. Provide PFP revenue projections by fundraising streams and markets, review National Committees and UNICEF country offices performance through comparative analysis of actuals against established Joint Strategic Plans and Private Sector Plans and provide valuable data analysis to PFP and UNICEF senior management for strategic business decisions.
  3. Provide advanced and affordability studies of UNICEF country offices for investment/loan decisions and administer and manage PFP investments in fundraising
  4. Identify, design, develop, and implement business intelligence to capture, consolidate, organize, analyze and report financial and non-financial information for PFP.

How can you make a difference?

Focusing on above points of 2 and 4 under the general guidance of the Business Analyst and in close collaboration with other teams, the incumbent assists in assuring the overall goals of the unit are met through Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) development and maintenance, development, implementation, and maintenance of PFP’s Business Intelligence capacity, and Financial Analysis of financial and non-financial information.

Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) and App Development

  • Ensure reliable and accurate data in cubes, data models, reports, and other financial data sources.
  • Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) for dataflow, integration of new data into cubes, data testing, and validation.
  • Be a key partner and lead in the development of internal finance applications and support markets with application support.
  • Ensure data is collected at the required frequency.

Business Intelligence

  • Help form for the future of PFPs reporting by developing and maintaining dashboards and ensuring reliable and accurate data.
  • Optimize existing processes by developing specifications and change requests, enhancing reporting for internal and external customers, and developing training for application rollouts (manuals, guidelines, and videos).
  • Develop models/reports to analyze accuracy of forecasting versus reporting.

Financial Analysis

  • Assist in developing annual revenue and expenditure forecasts.
  • Analyze revenue and expenditure global trends from various reporting sources, including the Revenue and Expenditure Report (RER).
  • Ensure data consistency between budget, forecast, latest estimates, and actuals.
  • Conduct profitability and report on growth drivers.

 Other Duties

  • Due to the team’s client-oriented nature, a large number of ad-hoc tasks and projects may be assigned to the incumbent.
  • Provides back-up for the Finance Manager and for the Business Analyst as required.

To qualify as a champion for every child, you will have…

Education:

  • A first-level University degree in IT, finance, economy, business, or equivalent, or other comparable recognized professional qualifications is required.

Work Experience:

  • A minimum of two years of professional work experience in Business Intelligence (BI) and/or finance/business analysis is required.
  • Experience of ETLs, data modelling, and business intelligence tools is required.
  • Experience and proficiency in Power BI and Excel is an asset.

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in English is required. Fluency in French and knowledge of another UN language is an asset.
