As part of the Staff Support Strategy for the HQ Efficiency Initiative (HQEI), a Staff Support Unit (SSU) was established in May 2022 to serve as a direct central resource for staff ahead of and during the transition of functions and in support to UNICEF's Future Focus Initiative. The People and Culture (P&C) Project Associate at the G-6 level will be located in UNICEF New York Headquarters (NYHQ), in the Division of People and Culture (DPC), within the SSU and will report to the People and Culture Manager, SSU. Under the supervision of the People and Culture Manager, SSU and guidance of the People and Culture Officer, the P&C Project Associate provides administrative, financial, procedural and operational support and assistance to the SSU, ensuring consistency and a people-centric approach in the support and services provided across all Divisions.
Purpose of the Job The role provides comprehensive coordination and administrative support to the Staff Support Unit (SSU) to ensure effective delivery of services, data management, and events. Key responsibilities include maintaining dashboards, tracking service requests, following up on case resolution, and ensuring proper documentation. The role supports communication and knowledge management through maintaining the SharePoint site, preparing presentations, and capturing lessons learned. It plays a central role in organizing SSU learning and career development events, including logistics, coordination with facilitators, and managing registrations. The incumbent also supports the Chief, P&C Business Partner, with stakeholder engagement, meeting coordination, and project tracking. Budget monitoring and data analytics are core functions, including financial reporting, updating staff data, and preparing insights for senior management. The position ensures efficient administration of daily tasks such as calendar management, correspondence, and meeting documentation, enabling smooth operations and informed decision-making across the People and Culture function.

Minimum requirements:
- Education: Secondary Education in Human Resources Management, Business Administration and any other related fields. A Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) from a recognized academic institution in a field relevant to the position may replace 3 years of related work experience. A Master or equivalent (Advanced University Degree) may replace an additional 2 years.
- Work Experience: At least 6 years of relevant work experience in Human Resources, Administration, Business Administration, Operations Project Management.
- Skills: Project management, human resources, administration, data analysis, communication, Excel and Powerpoint.
- Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required.
Desirables:
- Language: Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
- Coordination, planning, reporting, event coordination skills and cultural awareness is an advantage.
- Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.

The conditions of a temporary assignment, including relocation entitlements, will depend on the status of the staff member’s original appointment and may be limited in accordance with applicable UNICEF policies, procedures, and practices in force.
Visa residence requirements: i.e. UNICEF shall not facilitate the issuance of a visa and working authorization for candidates under consideration for positions at the national officer and general service category.
