Under the supervision of the Department Chair, adjunct faculty members are responsible for teaching assigned courses in accordance with learning objectives. Adjunct faculty positions are temporary positions, based on need and availability in a geographical area. Pepperdine seeks individuals willing to share expertise and knowledge and capable of teaching in a virtual environment.

Duties

  • Maintain and enhance the quality of teaching in the program
  • Work with lead faculty who developed the course
  • Prepare interactive presentations/lessons for quality online teaching
  • Participate in orientation and technology trainings
  • Respond to student inquiries in a timely manner
  • Provide substantive and ongoing feedback to students
  • Communicate student concerns to Program Office
  • Submit book orders, syllabi, class roster verifications, and grades on time
  • Uphold the university mission
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Master’s degree in business or related field. University level teaching experience or working with adult learners and in an online environment. Familiarity with best practices for effective adult learning theory, content-specific pedagogy, and instructional practices.
Flexible schedule, availability during school hours, and ability to travel to specified site locations. Self-motivation, organization, and aptitude in working independently. Professionalism and ability to work with faculty and students in a respectful manner. Video conference. Technological aptitude and ability to acquire new skills quickly. Skilled in Google Suite, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Qualified individuals should be able to show respect for workplace differences, and have the ability to work effectively with individuals from different backgrounds.

This is an Adjunct, Exempt, 10-12 hour per week position with multiple openings. As this is a pooled position, applications will be reviewed on a rolling, as-needed basis.

Expected Pay Range: $2,227.50 per unit

The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level. In addition to base pay, Pepperdine offers a robust and highly competitive benefits package.
