The Coordinator, Emergency Services and Insurance and Risk supports the daily operations of the departments to assist in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for the campus community. Duties include assisting with the university insurance portfolio, maintaining the driver database and fleet roster, administering claims and loss control measures, maintaining key systems including Everbridge and LiveSafe, managing certificates of insurance, and providing high-quality customer service. This position collaborates regularly with internal constituents across the University and external constituents.

The Coordinator is supervised by the Manager, Emergency Services and Insurance and Risk.

The Office of Insurance and Risk supports Pepperdine’s mission by managing the institution’s insurance portfolio, facilitating risk discussions, and partnering with individuals and departments to develop sound mitigation strategies that enable them to achieve their vision and objectives while prioritizing the health and safety of the community.

The Office of Emergency Services is tasked with ensuring the University is prepared for natural and man-made disasters, and responding to them when they occur.

Duties

  • Assist the Manager with managing the University's insurance portfolio including facilitating the completion of annual insurance renewal applications, claims management, addressing coverage questions, benchmarking with other schools, and issuing certificates of insurance. 
  • Maintain the day-to-day operations of the Office of Insurance and Risk including: scheduling, responding to internal and external constituents via phone and email, maintaining files, creating business processes to maximize office efficiency, scheduling event logistics, supporting Pepperdine's LMS system, assisting with the microbial process, and completing research projects, among other duties.
  • Identify exposures to loss for property, income, liability, personnel; administer loss control/accident investigations; administer loss history processes and other relevant data tracking.
  • Interact regularly with University constituents including brokers and consultants.
  • Facilitate the utilization of internal and external loss-prevention/control services.
  • Serve as Critical Support Personnel (CSP) during emergencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Uphold University mission through work performed.

Skills and Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of office administration experience.
  • Ability to:
    1. Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to provide high-level customer service;
    2. Maintain a positive attitude for issues of life safety and risk management;
    3. Multitask and be detail-oriented;
    4. Maintain confidentiality;
    5. Remain flexible with changing priorities.
  • Ability to use Google suite programs (Docs, Sheets, etc.).

Preferred:

  • Experience in insurance and claims handling, and emergency preparedness.
  • Higher education experience.
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft.

This is a Regular, Nonexempt, 40 hour per week position.

Expected Pay Range: $23.07 - $25.96 per hour 

The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level.
