Kenyon College is conducting a search for a qualified candidate to fill the position of Visual Content Producer. A talented visual storyteller, the Visual Content Producer shoots, edits and packages video and multimedia content that expresses the character of Kenyon College on its social media and other digital platforms.

With an ear for narrative and eye for composition, the Visual Content Producer captures Kenyon’s campus community, producing media primarily for YouTube, TikTok and Instagram while staying informed on emerging trends and platforms. This self-motivated individual is experienced in creating and curating content that aligns with an institution’s brand to speak to a variety of audiences: prospective students and parents, current students and parents, and alumni.

In this capacity, the Visual Content Producer manages the in-house production of video and multimedia content from ideation to final delivery. In addition, the person in this role works in close collaboration with a social media specialist to distinguish Kenyon’s digital presence in the higher-ed landscape and supervises a team of student creative producers to strategically support this effort.

Reporting to the Director of Creative and Brand Strategy, the Visual Content Producer plays a key role in the expression of Kenyon’s brand by contributing to staff meetings, pitching and executing on ideas, and advising on creative projects and campaigns.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead the production of video and multimedia content from ideation to final delivery, including shooting, editing and packaging for distribution. 
  • Oversee an in-house workflow for managing projects, collaborating with colleagues to ensure final products meet deadlines and shared goals.
  • Manage Kenyon’s YouTube and TikTok channels, ensuring the timely update of content and reporting on analytics to identify user trends and inform content recommendations. 
  • Work in close collaboration with an in-house social media specialist on producing content across Kenyon’s social media channels, with an emphasis on Instagram.
  • Stay informed on emerging trends and platforms in the digital video landscape.
  • Maintain a video equipment inventory and digital library of video assets and support external video partners in coordinating on-campus shoots.
  • Supervise the work of student creative producers, including videographers and photographers, assigning projects, providing direction and feedback on their work, and offering guidance on their use of office video equipment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in film, art, communications or related subject, with a strong and varied portfolio of visual work.
  • Three to five years of experience in video production within a higher-education, agency, corporate or non-profit setting, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Experience with operating camera, audio and lighting equipment, in addition to post-production software like Final Cut Pro X and the Adobe CC Suite and video editing apps.
  • Innate understanding of the online video community and working knowledge of YouTube, TikTok and Instagram Reels.
  • A desire to constantly learn and innovate, and evidence of creative problem solving and collaboration.
  • Ability to work independently, while meeting deadlines and managing multiple projects.
  • Some work during evenings and weekends required.
  • Hybrid work is a possibility for this position.
