Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies and Economics (Environmental Economics)
Kenyon College invites applications for a joint tenure-track position in the Departments of Environmental Studies (80%) and Economics (20%) starting in July 2025. We seek a broadly trained economist with expertise in environmental, ecological, and/or natural resource economics. We seek candidates who are well-acquainted with environmental economics and who understand the fundamentals of ecological systems. We are especially interested in an environmental, ecological, or natural resource economist with a strong quantitative component to their training, teaching, and/or research. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to excellent teaching, and we seek candidates who will provide inclusive course experiences, effective mentoring, and strong academic support for our diverse student population.
Teaching expectations are 5 courses per year, including some combination of environmental economics, introductory environmental studies, environmental quantitative methods, and/or new courses at the upper level. Additional opportunities exist for interdisciplinary teaching and scholarship within and outside the Environmental Studies Department. We expect a vigorous research program that involves undergraduate students. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. or be on course to complete one by July 2025. We encourage applications from all groups historically underrepresented in economics or environmental studies.
A complete application will comprise 1) a cover letter; 2) a Curriculum Vitae; 3) a two-page statement of the applicant's teaching philosophy that includes the applicant’s experiences and plans for teaching diverse student populations and using inclusive pedagogy; 4) a statement of the applicant’s research and scholarship; 5) an unofficial graduate transcript; and 6) contact information for three professional references. All application materials must be submitted electronically through Kenyon's employment website: http://careers.kenyon.edu.
Review of applications will begin on October 15, 2024. Please direct questions to Siobhan Fennessy, Search Committee Chair (fennessym@kenyon.edu).
