Kenyon College is seeking a Digital Engagement Specialist responsible for implementing social media and digital strategies and initiatives to engage in meaningful exchanges and strengthen connections among Kenyon alumni with the college. With a talent for online engagement, this creative and self-motivated individual will represent Kenyon in the digital landscape with wit and warmth.
The Digital Engagement Specialist writes, edits and manages content for Kenyon’s Alumni Instagram account and assists with digital strategies for event promotion and fundraising.
Reporting to the Director of Advancement Communications and Strategy, the qualified candidate will contribute to the goals and strategies of the Alumni and Parent Engagement and Annual Giving offices, translating the personal outreach of these teams to the digital landscape.
Primary Responsibilities
Write, edit and manage Kenyon’s online alumni engagement, including Alumni Instagram account, marketing emails, digital advertising. Seek and identify other opportunities to broaden and deepen online engagement.
Manage a social media calendar that aligns with key dates and goals of the Advancement communications calendar, collaborating with colleagues to ensure a timely flow of communications that meet institutional goals.
Collaborate and coordinate with Social Media and Marketing Specialist and Visual Content Producer in Communications to align efforts. Collaborate with and advise Student Advancement Officers on the creation of video and photo content for social.
Track analytics on social media channels and emails, informing decision-making about the creation and use of digital content.
Social Media Management
- Primary manager of the Kenyon Alumni Instagram account in collaboration with the Young Alumni team in Advancement.
- Responsible for audience engagement and growth.
- Writing/proofing copy, minor video editing, image curation and design, monitoring, responding, measuring and reporting.
- Perform regular analysis of results and performance of ongoing marketing campaigns.
- Identify new metrics and tools in monitoring and spotting trends and measuring results.
Other Responsibilities
- Support the Director of Advancement Communications and Strategy with advancement communications projects as needed.
- Assist with email management through Slate.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, English or a related subject.
- Three to five years of marketing or social media experience in a higher-education, agency, corporate or non-profit digital setting, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Familiarity with AP Style, excellent spelling and grammar skills, attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to use social media channels and web and email content management systems.
- Ability to work independently, while meeting deadlines and managing multiple projects.
- A desire to constantly learn and innovate, and evidence of creative problem solving and collaboration.
- Proficiency with Asana or other project management.
- Hybrid work is a possibility for this position.
- Some work during evenings and weekends required.
