About the role
We are looking for a motivated Paralegal to join our dedicated Abuse Law team on a part-time, permanent basis. Located in our Sydney CBD office, you’ll play a key role in supporting a diverse and meaningful caseload of Abuse Law matters.
Maurice Blackburn has a long history of practising in Abuse Law, and of advocating on the part of survivors of childhood sexual abuse. This is a unique opportunity to establish credentials and expertise in a developing area of law. Due to the nature of the practice, there will at times be exposure to challenging material, consequently all staff in the practice are supported through access to external psychological support, as well as market leading and award winning internal vicarious trauma training.
Responsibilities include, however are not limited to, drafting notices of claim and other legal / court documents, preparing client correspondence, collaboratively liaising with counsel, liaising with clients (both internal and external), conducting research and obtaining statements all as directed and under the supervision of a Lawyer.
The experience we are looking for
In this role you will be constantly challenged and expanding your skill set. You will have:
- Experience in legal support roles as a Legal Assistant, Law Clerk or Paralegal
- Excellent organisational skills and an ability to multi-task
- Strong communication skills in liaising both internally and externally
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
- Enthusiasm and the ability to learn & grow in this area of law
