The Opportunity
MinRes is seeking an experienced Corporate Development Principal, where your expertise will play a key role in the preparation and facilitation of business unit and corporate strategies and delivery of business growth objectives. You will play a crucial role in aligning stakeholders and maximising shareholder value through strategic insights and comprehensive analyses.
This position is a 12-month fixed contract term and will report directly to our GM Corporate Development.
Key responsibilities may include:
- Support the preparation and facilitation of business unit and corporate strategies by engaging stakeholders and driving alignment with business objectives
- Conduct comprehensive market and competitor analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks that inform strategic planning and decision making.
- Assess and prioritise investment opportunities to maximise shareholder value.
- Assist to develop and implement frameworks for optimal allocation of capital across various business units and strategic initiatives.
- Identify and evaluate new growth and corporate development opportunities
- Undertake detailed due diligence including financial, commercial, market and risk assessments to assess the viability of projects including review and development of project financial models used to support business cases
- Provide commercial, analytical, strategic and project management support to the business to develop investment proposals to support senior management and board decision making for both internal and external opportunities
- Help maintain group wide consistency and reporting including managing internal verification processes, industry datasets and peer information
- Manage end to end deal execution on major business transactions including project management of technical teams, stakeholder communication, and integration planning and implementation
- Prepare detailed high-quality presentations and papers for the decision makers in the business
- Ongoing engagement with key internal and external stakeholders to build strong working relationships
What is required?
- Tertiary Qualification in Business/Finance, Engineering, Geology
- Extensive experience in natural resources project/asset evaluation, corporate analysis, and due diligence within the mining industry
- Strong analytical capability including high level analytical and financial modelling skills and excellent technical and commercial evaluation skills for mining and processing projects
- Experience in development and implementation of corporate and business unit strategies, and frameworks for capital allocation that optimise shareholder value.
- Strong presentation skills and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with a track record of successfully leading and executing transactions.
