We are looking for suitably qualified Maintenance Supervisor/Plumber/Gas Fitter to work across commercial buildings within the Melbourne CBD, for one of our financial services clients.
This Full Time role will require availability Monday to Friday, 7am to 4pm, with some out of hours work required in the event of an emergency.
This opportunity will commence in mid-February/early March.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor will have two main functions:
- Overseeing a team of 4 Maintenance Officers/Handypersons who are undertaking general maintenance/repairs (minor plumbing, electrical, fixtures and site clean-up). The role primarily focuses on the leadership, coordination, and management of maintenance activities within a commercial building environment. The supervisor is responsible for ensuring safety, operational efficiency, quality service, and effective resource management, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and compliance with company policies and regulations.
- Responsible to perform the day-to-day general maintenance and upkeep of the plumbing, drainage, gas fitting, and general repairs as directed by the Facility Managers & Engineering Manager.
Key tasks include:
- Supervise and coordinate the Maintenance Officer/Handyperson team.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to team members to ensure skills and knowledge are maintained and developed.
- Plan, organize, and prioritize maintenance tasks to ensure timely completion, addressing urgent issues as they arise, submit reports and close out work orders.
- Oversee and coordinate the scheduling of maintenance work, ensuring that critical repairs and preventive maintenance tasks are prioritized appropriately.
- Take ownership of task prioritisation for plumbing repairs and general maintenance.
- Complete and Review SWMS, Risk Assessments, permits to work and any safe work procedures as required
- Assist with troubleshooting and resolving technical faults across plumbing, drainage, gas fitting, and air conditioning systems.
- Carry out site inspections to identify, report and action faults and items for repair.
- Assist with Office Services and using our FMS/CMMS to raise and close off service requests and work orders.

Minimum Criteria:
A confident and technically minded tradesperson, with well developed communication skills and suitable personal presentation to work across operational commercial sites and complete work with the minimum of disruption to our banking client.
- Previous experience working in a maintenance or handyperson capacity on commercial sites;
- C Class manual drivers’ licence
- Plumbing Contractors Licence
- Gas fitting Permit
- Trade certification
- Construction induction – White Card
- Sound communication skills, numerical competency
- Fit, active and energetic and able to bend, stand and lift
- Ability to operate industrial cleaning equipment
- Willing to complete background/probity check (National Police Check, ASIC – financial services).
