The role:
The Business Development Consultant - In Market Support role will support the In-Market operations of various practice groups and industry groups in the Australian offices as allocated and agreed with team management.
The role will assist in co-ordinating the BDMC function's office resources and in developing a strategic focused, market-leading BDMC business-partnering capability which enables the Groups in the Australian offices to win, retain and grow business through consistently high standards.
Engaging in the coordination and support execution of thought leadership and provide strong relationship and account management.
Role responsibilities:
- Help Partners to navigate the BDMC structure, acting as their first point of contact for all business development needs; responsible for executing and prioritising practice group BDMC activities
- Assist in the development of the business plans for various practice and industry groups as agreed with team management, including Key Client opportunities, marketing and communications campaigns required, priority revenue generating service lines/initiatives and key events
- Assist in maximising the benefits to the firm by actively managing the firm's relationships with industry associations and organisations as required from time to time. This could be in the form of sponsorship arrangements, memberships or related events.
- Assist in the management of clients as part of programmatic support or with individual clients as may be required.
- Contribute to ensuring the In-Market BDMC team are clarifying and capturing requirements to a high standard such that Expert functions and End-to-End Services will be able to action them
- Build and maintain close working relationships with colleagues in the global BDMC team and End-to-End Services to ensure practice groups are benefitting from best practice and latest thinking elsewhere in the Firm
- The execution of relevant pitch opportunities
- Budget management
- Coordinating the various activities required to support brand promotion e.g. website content, newsletters, client alerts etc.
- The identification, capture and management of relevant market and Firm intelligence such as client contact information, matter information, Partner and professional CVs
- Ensure we are capturing the feedback, matter experience, client contacts and business development leads to enable the practice to promote itself effectively and to grow its business
- Participating in ad hoc projects or activities, as required
What we're looking for -
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant work experience
- Experience in a marketing and/or business development role, preferably in a professional services environment
- Experience working with senior stakeholders and developing relationships with them
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively manage competing priorities
- Strong judgment and ability to make well-reasoned independent decisions
- Advanced understanding of strategic marketing and communications
- Self-motivated and independent, able to work with a minimum of supervision
- Comfortable working across multiple cultures and time zones in a matrix organization
- Strong interpersonal skills, including pleasant nature and ability to influence others
- High degree of attention to detail
