The Role
We have a fantastic opportunity for an Associate or Senior Associate (3-8 years’ experience) to join our Banking & Finance team in Sydney.
This role will involve working closely with the Banking & Finance partners and team on matters including, but not limited to, general finance, structured finance, loans, derivatives and debt capital market.
The Team
Baker McKenzie's Banking & Finance team is at the forefront of providing commercially astute advice to major Australian and global clients. Our clients include local and overseas banks, investment banks, private equity houses, governments and corporations for whom we act in relation to many types of financing including acquisition finance, project finance, construction finance, receivables financing and securitisations both in Australia and overseas.
We have a market reputation for undertaking large financing transactions, including project finance for power, natural resources, telecommunications and infrastructure assets, syndicated corporate lending, leveraged finance, real estate and construction finance, funds finance, receivables finance and securitisation, structured finance, derivatives and debt capital markets, both in our domestic and overseas offices
What we're looking for:
- minimum 3 years’ experience in Banking & Finance;
- a strong team player with delegation/supervision skills
- relevant experience in a top tier or leading international firm preferred;
- a strong client service orientation;
- strong technical, drafting and commercial skills;
- business development aptitude, interest, and experience;
- relevant legal qualifications;
- a strong academic background;
- excellent analytical, communication, and research skills;
- a commitment to high work standards and strong attention to detail;
- an ability to demonstrate initiative and proactivity;
- an ability to develop strong relationships with clients and to take responsibility for this relationship;
- an ability to work well in a team environment (including across Australian offices and internationally);
- a willingness to learn; and
- a willingness to develop others through mentoring and sharing experiences.
