The Assistant Athletics Director for Digital Media & Communications is responsible for promoting and publicizing the Seton Hall Athletics brand and its student-athletes through a variety of mediums. This includes writing press releases, contacting media outlets with story ideas, coordinating statistics and record keeping, arranging interviews for student-athletes and coaches, serving as a voice of the Seton Hall Athletics brand on social media as well as maintaining an accurate and up-to-date website. This position also has day-to-day oversight of the Pirate Sports Network, which includes working with students to create original content that promotes student-athletes, organizing video shoots and scheduling personnel for live event coverage. This position, alongside the Associate Athletics Director for Communications, is responsible for oversight of the office of Athletics Communications when the Senior Associate Athletics Director for External Relations is not available.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Primary media contact for specific sports as assigned. Responsible for arranging interviews for the coaching staff and student-athletes. Travel to road games for sports as assigned. Promote student-athletes for conference, regional and national recognition. Responsible for home game event management (pre-/post-game media needs, game programs, announcements, statistics and game notes production) and travel with the team to conference and/or NCAA Championships. Promote and publicize Seton Hall Athletics teams and student-athletes by writing press releases and feature articles, making pitches to external media, creating social media posts and graphics that help sell the brand and nominates student-athletes for awards
2. Serve as day-to-day supervisor of the Pirate Sports Network. Recruit students to participate in the network by attending activity and career fairs and encouraging active participants to spread the word. Schedule students to work live events while balancing their opportunities to experience different roles within the network. Schedule video shoots with student-athletes and coaches, including a monthly series that highlights high-achieving student-athletes who are representative of the Seton Hall Athletics brand. Oversee the student production of weekly content that promotes student-athletes, including highlight packages, recaps and previews. Serve as executive producer for live event broadcasts when the Senior Associate Athletics Director for External Relations is not available.
3. Support and enhance Seton Hall’s brand and publicize teams through social media communication. Serve as the voice of assigned teams on Twitter with a strategic plan of delivering information about the programs in written and graphical form. Collaborate with other members of the communications staff and members of the marketing staff to serve as the voice of the department’s Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat accounts.
4. Serve as the communications liaison for the organization and operation of the department’s end-of-year banquets. Coordinate the shooting and editing of videos to be played at the banquets, including the all-sport highlight video. Create graphics to be used both at the banquets and on social media. Work with the Associate Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Development & Leadership to plan out event logistics and develop an event program.
5. Maintain and update the athletics department website (www.shupirates.com). Responsible for posting accurate and up-to-date information (game previews & recaps, statistics, student-athlete biographies, feature stories) for each sport. Beyond sport assignments, responsible for compliance, camps and marketing & promotions pages on the website.
6. Assist the Senior Associate Athletics Director for External Relations in other tasks as assigned. Collaborate with the Associate Athletics Director for Communications on the production of the department’s annual report and with overseeing other staff members as applicable.

Bachelor’s degree
