Position Summary
The Academic Advisor for the MATC Program serves as a critical support for both prospective and current students by providing comprehensive academic advising and program guidance. This role includes coordinating individual and group advising sessions, supporting recruitment, enrollment and graduation processes, evaluating transfer credits, monitoring academic progress, and maintaining compliance with university and program policies. The advisor also contributes to departmental initiatives, course planning, data reporting, and the implementation of new program efforts. This position requires strong collaboration across departments, attention to detail, and a commitment to student success and program quality.

Required Degree
Doctorate -Higher education, student affairs, counseling, or related field
Minimum Requirements
- Doctorate - Higher education, student affairs, counseling, or related field
- 2–3 years of experience advising or supporting graduate students in a university setting
- Familiarity with MSU systems including Campus Solutions, GradPlan, SLATE, and D2L
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to support a diverse student population
- Experience interpreting and applying academic policy and transfer credit evaluation
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, including data reporting and student record compliance
- Knowledge of graduate program structures, timelines, and certification processes
- Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, program directors, and administrative offices
