Position Summary(Basic Job Function)
This is a temporary or on-call position. Performs a variety of duties in support of summer camps and conferences, such as responding to participant concerns, questions and emergencies; maintaining/monitoring camp rules, checking in/out of participants, attending meetings. May involve overnight supervision of participants. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.
Unit Position Summary
Summer CAMP Aide Responsibilities
All Program Aides must be on campus July 2nd and July 5th for orientation and training. All positions are fully in-person on campus. Program Aides will be on call 24 hours a day during the programs.
4 live in Program Aides will be on duty for the duration of MAP, July 6-August 1, 2025. Program Aide commitment will officially end on Friday, August 1, 2025 at 8:00pm or when all wrap-up is complete (whichever is earlier).
Program Aides are involved in programming which will include weekends and evenings. Program Aides will work closely with program director and fellow Program Aides to plan and carry out weekend and evening programming activities. Each Program Aide is expected to attend all assigned programming and encourage participants to engage in activities. Program Aides are required to reside in university housing for the duration of the program and will not be allowed to have overnight visitors.
- Program Aides will be responsible for attending weekly staff meetings as designated by the program director and senior Program Aide.
- Program Aides will be responsible for serving as a resource to students as concerns develop throughout the program in collaboration with the senior Program Aide and the program director.
- Program Aides will be responsible for transporting students in university vans.
- Program Aides will help build a safe, supportive environment where campers can grow, make new friends, and engage in new opportunities.
- Program Aide will be responsible for overseeing and supervising the activities of program participants.
- Program Aides will assist with check-in and checkout of program participants.
- Program Aides will enforce program rules and regulations for participants.
- Program Aides will enforce University and residence hall rules and regulations.
- Program Aide will be responsible for spending time outdoors in a variety of elements
Desired Qualifications
- Ability and desire to work with high school students in grades 9-11
- Ability to promote higher education and college access
- Commitment to working with students from diverse backgrounds
- Experience working with students from underrepresented populations
- Successfully completed one year of college, be in good academic standing with the university at the time of application and the end of the 2025 Spring semester (minimum GPA of 2.0), or have earned a college degree
- Experience working in a team setting
- Must be able to pass all necessary background checks (Personal & Driver)
- Valid driver’s license (will be required to drive a 6-10 passenger van)
- Must be able to commit fully to position for duration of program.
