Position Summary(Basic Job Function)
This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.
Unit Position Summary
The Johnston Lab in the Department of Pathobiology & Diagnostic Investigation at Michigan State University has an opening for a 1-year Professional Aide. The position starts in Fall 2025 and may be renewed for a second year, based on performance.
The Professional Aide will manage laboratory organization, ordering, and contribute to data management and processing.
Desired Qualifications
- Interest in biomedical science (or a related field), applicant must have computer experience (e.g., Microsoft Word and Excel) and experience with data entry prior to starting this position.
- Ability to assist with laboratory and research data management, which consists of inventory maintenance, supply purchases, physical organization of biological samples, and computer cataloging of basic and clinical research data.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Good written communication skills.
