Position Summary

The Pharmacy Technician plays an essential role in supporting the da ily operations of the pharmacy while ensuring the safe, accurate, and timely preparation and distribution of medications. This position requires a highly organized, dependable, and adaptable individual who can effectively manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities include:

· Prepare, package, label, and dispense medications accurately under the direction of a pharmacist.

· Receive, process, and maintain medication orders and assist with inventory management.

· Prioritize and manage multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

· Work independently and demonstrate sound judgment when completing assigned responsibilities.

· Collaborate effectively as a team member and contribute to a positive, professional work environment.

· Communicate and engage professionally with veterinarians, nurses, students, pharmacists, and other members of the healthcare team.

· Assist with answering questions, resolving medication-related issues, and providing excellent customer service within the scope of the technician's role.

· Maintain accurate records and follow all applicable pharmacy policies, procedures, and safety standards.

· Adapt to changing priorities and demands while consistently meeting deadlines.

· Support students and other team members by providing guidance and assistance with pharmacy processes and daily operations.

· Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions.

· Perform other pharmacy-related duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge normally acquired from specialized training in a pharmacy technician program; one to three years of progressively more responsible or more expansive work experience in a pharmacy setting, including familiarity with insurance requirements (for non-veterinary pharmacies), and computer and math skills; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This position requires possession of a current State of Michigan Pharmacy Technician license and certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician, requiring 20 hours of continuing education every two years to maintain certification.
