The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Scientist in our Net Zero Emissions Modelling team, within the Climate and Atmospheric Science branch.

The Senior Scientist is responsible for greenhouse gas emissions research, analysis and modelling, providing support to the Net Zero Emissions Modelling team for their state- and economy-wide  emissions modelling program.

About You

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Knowledge and experience in delivering rigorous greenhouse gas science research, analysis and modelling projects.
  • Relevant science qualifications.
  • Experience working collaboratively with a team to deliver customer focused results.

The following skills would be highly regarded:

  • Programming skills, for example in python, SQL, DAX, R
  • Knowledge and experience in spatial analysis and working with spatial datasets
  • Sector specific expertise or experience in emissions or decarbonisation in one or more of the sectors we model (transport, industrial processes, energy, waste, land, agriculture)
