About the role
National Parks and Wildlife Service has a unique opportunity for a Senior Project Officer to work as part of the close-knit native title team. You will contribute and collaborate across NPWS and externally to deliver broad native title related outcomes and contribute to new native title management initiatives.
The role is responsible for providing leadership internally across operational branches and divisions, and external agency project teams, working groups and similar forums established to develop and deliver native title outcomes. This role manages a small project team, provide guidance and support, monitor and appraise work performance and facilitate their ongoing professional development to ensure they are fully capable to successfully deliver all key project/s milestones and outcomes.
The Senior Project Officer is responsible for providing project management services specific for the native title program, including preparation of reports and briefs, maintaining project documentation, implementing and monitoring project plans.
About You
You will have experience to operate with some level of autonomy, makes day-to-day decisions relating to work priorities and workload management, for yourself and any staff/project staff you supervise. You will be accountable for the delivery of assigned projects on time and at or below budget.
In addition, you will have experience building meaningful relationships and effective communication with interagency staff and internal staff, whilst exercising sound judgement in managing risks, issues and recommending responses in consultation with the relevant Branch staff. You will provide a high level of high level project management advice for internal and interdepartmental project delivery.
You will be required to maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times. You will collect, collate and report on internal and external information and maintain a register of supporting material to support development of complex business case specific for the native title program.
Essential Requirements –
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications or demonstrated equivalent, relevant professional experience.
- Project management skills and experience with an understanding of contemporary best practice in procurement, tendering and contract preparation, in managing project teams, consultants and contractors, and in applying safety and risk management policies and systems.
- Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and reviewing strategic plans, policies and programs, and in providing strategic and advice and recommendations to senior management
