The Department of Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure (DPHI) is seeking an experienced Manager, Privacy to lead and manage a newly created privacy team to ensure the strategic management and compliance of privacy functions across the department. This role involves managing complex privacy issues, enhancing the department’s privacy framework, and promoting best practices in privacy compliance. You will also represent the department in various forums and manage access to personal and health information in accordance with relevant legislation.

 

About this role:

 

  • Manage complex and sensitive privacy complaints and breaches, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Enhance and maintain the department’s privacy framework, addressing systemic and contentious issues.
  • Promote privacy compliance through information campaigns and training.
  • Represent the department at the Information and Privacy Commission and other public forums.
  • Manage access to personal and health information under privacy legislation.

What you will bring to the role

 

  • Ability to develop methods for handling complex and sensitive privacy issues.
  • Strong understanding of legislative and policy requirements related to privacy, particularly within NSW.
  • Capability to develop and implement cost-effective solutions for privacy compliance.
  • Effective engagement with internal and external stakeholders to provide strategic advice and develop policies.
  • Experience working with privacy technologies, incident response procedures, and privacy impact assessment tools.

 

What is an essential requirement:

 

Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent experience working in a similar role.
