• Hourly rate $26.85 plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and casual loading

 

About the role

National Parks and Wildlife Service has a fantastic and unique opportunity for  General Services Officers to join a committed team providing world class guest servicing and contribute towards the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna and Aboriginal heritage.

The Southern Ranges Branch manages 98 parks and reserves, including Kosciuszko National Park, the largest park in New South Wales. Our parks are home to the NSW alpine ski resorts, which attract a high number of visitors in the winter months.

From the tablelands of the Monaro Plain to the high-altitude alpine areas of Kosciuszko and Brindabella national parks, our branch covers one of the most geographically and biologically diverse areas in the state. 

The General Services Officer is responsible for preparing our hard-roof accommodation for guests staying overnight in Caves House and Lyrebird Cottage.  Duties combine accommodation cleaning, simple maintenance tasks, basic administrative tasks, plus work in the Yarrangobilly Caves Visitor Centre i.e. retail shop, ticket sales and general visitor enquiries.  

 

About You

Your passion for your community and environment, coupled with a strong attention to detail and safety will be key to your success in this role. You'll be self-organised and able to prioritise tasks within the scope of the role. You’ll enjoy working as part of a team but be able to work alone or with minimal supervision. As a General Services Officer, you will value respectful communication and display a positive approach to work. And you will possess basic computer skills i.e. email and online ordering.

 

Essential requirements

• Ability to obtain relevant Chemical Users certification
• Ability to obtain or current Senior First Aid certificate
• Demonstrated Experience in cash handling procedures with ability to operate EFTPOS facilities.
• Current drivers’ licence
• Current working with children checks

Please note:

• You will be required to work weekends and public holidays as rostered, with the applicable casual loading provided.
• You will be required to wear a National Parks and Wildlife Service uniform.
• On site accommodation is available to suit the roster.
• Training to meet the certifications required is provided.
