EnergyCo NSW is spearheading the transition to renewable energy to deliver clean electricity to the people of NSW as coal-fired power stations near closure.

About the Opportunity
Our EnergyCo NSW Project Delivery team is currently seeking to appoint multiple Senior Project Officers to lead and undertake project work to enable the successful coordination and delivery of EnergyCo’s priority infrastructure projects, such as the delivery of REZs, new electricity transmission network and related infrastructure projects. This includes driving specific project or program related work, achieving project or program milestones, coordinating resources and enabling overall delivery within an assigned portfolio.

These opportunities sit within two different Project Delivery teams:

  • The Project Management Office (PMO) provides support to projects and coordinates governance, assurance, reporting and project control across the program. The focus of this role will be:
    • Supporting Project Control functional leads as required
    • Providing PMO support and/or advice to individual projects as required
    • Serving as PMO liaison for one or more EnergyCo stakeholders
    • Building and maintaining strong, trusted relationships across various stakeholders
    • Identifying opportunities to optimise project governance, assurance, reporting or control
    • Effectively and efficiently managing and escalating risks, issues and opportunities

  • The Hunter Transmission Project team drives the development of one of NSW’s critical energy infrastructure projects, a new 100km high voltage transmission line to be constructed in the Hunter Region.  The focus of this role will be:
    • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams within EnergyCo and across Government
    • Drafting, updating or reviewing written reports and papers independently or in a team
    • Leading procurement and contract management activities
    • Assisting in feasibility studies, due diligence, and cost-benefit analyses
    • Coordinating approval and governance activities working with a range of subject matter experts
    • Identifying and mitigating project risks and challenges
    • Managing stakeholder communications and expectations

About You
To be successful in the role, you will have demonstrated experience in complex project management and delivery, with experience in infrastructure development highly regarded. You will have a track record of achieving project milestones to high quality standards while effectively coordinating, developing and delivering multiple complex and interconnected projects.

You are skilled at overseeing program governance, proactively identifying and managing risks and consulting with stakeholders to align program interdependencies and project deliverables. You anticipate emerging risks and provide timely, accurate advice on complex issues. Your proven ability to collect, analyse and synthesize information from various sources enables you to meet tight deadlines while maintaining composure, confidentiality, and diplomacy.

With a collaborative and pragmatic mindset, you exercise sound judgment to strategically balance and resolve conflicts among competing priorities, and stakeholders. Your strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills allow you to effectively consult and influence decision-makers and key stakeholders, driving action and achieving outcomes which support EnergyCo’s ambitious vision for the State’s energy transition.


Essential Requirements

  • Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.

Who we are?
The Energy Corporation of NSW (EnergyCo) is a statutory corporation established under the Energy and Utilities Administration Act 1987 and governed by its Board, appointed by the Minister for Energy.  EnergyCo is a Staff Agency employing all EnergyCo staff and is an agency related to the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW).

EnergyCo plays a pivotal role in the NSW Government’s Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap, which aims to transform the state’s electricity system into one that is cheap, clean, and reliable. As Infrastructure Planner under the Electricity Infrastructure Investment Act 2020, EnergyCo is responsible for leading the delivery of the State’s first five Renewable Energy Zones (REZs) and the first two priority transmission infrastructure projects (PTIPs), which are located in the Central-West Orana, New England, South West, Hunter-Central Coast, and Illawarra regions. We work closely with communities, investors, and industry to investigate, plan, recommend and coordinate generation, storage and network infrastructure projects.
