The Energy, Climate Change and Sustainability (ECCS) division within the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) is currently seeking to appoint an Executive Director Consumer Energy to join their senior executive leadership team.

 

The Executive Director Consumer Energy leads the strategic and operational management of initiatives to drive benefits for consumers from the shift to renewable energy and ensure household energy affordability and sustainability.

 

The role provides high level strategic advice to the Minister, Secretary and Deputy Secretary to inform decision making, planning and evaluation focused on the energy consumption and investment decisions of individuals, businesses and specialist sectors including addressing the consequences of the net zero transition for NSW consumers.

 

 

About You

 

This role requires an experienced leader who can provide high level leadership and direction to the renewable energy team in ECCS. You will be an experienced executive with strong collaboration, communication and stakeholder engagement skills both across DCCEEW, the NSW Government, and other key external stakeholders in the renewable energy space.

 

Other key skills and experience include but are not limited to:

  • Lead and direct the prioritisation, development, implementation and review of policies and programs to ensure that NSW consumers have access to renewable electricity, energy savings and peak demand reduction measures
  • Develop, apply, manage and adjust incentives, rebates, information campaigns and other measures to ensure that consumers, particularly vulnerable energy customers, are protected by policies on energy pricing and tariff affordability
  • Represent the agency to lead and direct consultation, collaboration and negotiation with stakeholders from the consumer-facing energy sector
  • Contribute as a member of the ECCS leadership team to strategic and business planning, ensuring implications for strategic initiatives, critical legislative requirements, government targets and performance are represented and considered, and that integrated and efficient products, services and advice are delivered

 

Essential Requirements

 

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or equivalent relevant experience
