The role
As a Senior Engagement Officer, your specific responsibilities will revolve around leading, managing, implementing and applying continuous improvement to the department’s Aboriginal Events and Engagement Strategy. This includes overseeing the entire process from planning to execution, ensuring project deliverables are met, and managing event logistics and marketing activities. You'll also be responsible for developing targeted communications strategies that resonate with Aboriginal peoples, communities and entities, which can involve creating content for various platforms, including digital media and publications.

Additionally, you'll need to build and maintain strong relationships with various stakeholders, including internal business units, communications and marketing teams and senior executives, to ensure effective communication and collaboration. Evaluating the effectiveness of your communications and events against established objectives will be crucial, as will staying up to date on best practices in communications and events management. This role requires a proactive approach to integrating learnings from past initiatives to continuously improve outcomes and support the departments broader goals, while delivering genuine outcomes for our Aboriginal customers

What you will bring to the role

  • Deep understanding of Aboriginal culture and community needs, enabling the creation of relevant and respectful engagement and communication strategies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of crafting compelling content for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, fostering collaboration and support.
  • Experience in planning and executing events, including logistics, marketing, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience in multi-media production and graphic design.

What is an essential requirement:

  • Tertiary qualifications in communications, events, marketing or other related discipline and/or relevant equivalent experience.
