At the heart of the New South Wales (NSW) planning system, the Planning Group takes centre stage. Driven by the NSW Government’s unwavering commitment to tackle the critical housing issue, we provide essential support and strategic guidance. The Planning Land Use Strategy, Housing and Infrastructure (PLUSHI) team are the driving force behind the Department's strategic planning, policy, rezoning, and infrastructure projects, all aimed at making New South Wales a better place to live.
The role
The Planning Officer Urban Development Program will support and assist the implementation of the NSW Government’s Urban Development Program (UDP) for monitoring and coordinating housing supply and infrastructure delivery in metro regions.
The UDP provides a central forum for NSW Government agencies, local councils, and industry to align plans and build consensus on priorities for land use planning and infrastructure investment to support housing supply, and work to resolve critical issues and delays to delivery. The primary responsibility of the role is to support the delivery and coordination of land use planning and infrastructure.
You will undertake tasks relating to the UDP including planning and infrastructure research and analysis, participate in business improvement initiatives including team systems, policies and processes and collation and management of data and information to identify issues and independently recommend options and solutions to achieve planning program commitments.

Key knowledge and experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of land use or infrastructure planning, project delivery and/or government processes
Essential requirements
- Degree in town planning, environmental management, economics, project management, property or a related field
