- PO2 Salary relative to experience and ranges from $134,504 to $143,964 + super
At the heart of the New South Wales (NSW) planning system, the Planning Group takes centre stage. Driven by the NSW Government’s unwavering commitment to tackle the critical housing issue, we provide essential support and strategic guidance. The Planning Land Use Strategy, Housing and Infrastructure (PLUSHI) team are the driving force behind the Department's strategic planning, policy, rezoning, and infrastructure projects, all aimed at making New South Wales a better place to live.
The role
The Senior Open Space Operations Manager provides strategic leadership and oversee the daily management of major public open space activations and projects, ensuring efficiency and exceptional community experiences to deliver impactful public open space projects.
You will prepare and manage budgets programs and activations that includes forecasting, reporting, and reconciliation to ensure financial control and resource allocation, manage the procurement and implementation of maintenance operations, logistics requirements, and service contracts for landscape and infrastructure needs ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, including work health and safety, environmental, and risk management policies.
We have so many exciting projects for NSW including Penrith Beach, Places to Swim and Parks for People and your role will be to balance daily operations with strategic projects and event delivery ensuring compliance with relevant environment, safety and risk management guidelines whilst effectively managing stakeholder communications and expectations, particularly during events or maintenance.

Key knowledge and experience
- Proven experience in the operational management of open space or recreational sites, with a focus on activation planning and delivery, day-to-day operations and event coordination.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations, environmental standards, and risk management practices to ensure compliance and safety at the site.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, resources, and project timelines, with a focus on efficient service delivery and stakeholder communication
Essential requirements
- Degree qualifications in park management, project management, event management or similar
