The role

We’re seeking a motivated and highly organised Executive Officer to provide essential support to the Valuer General and Value NSW. This role offers the opportunity to work at the heart of property valuation policy and delivery, directly supporting the leadership of one of NSW’s most vital land-related services.

You will manage executive communications, correspondence, and reporting, support strategic projects, and oversee administrative practices to drive outcomes. Reporting to the Director, Strategy and Advice, you will lead a small team and work closely with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate and deliver high-quality outputs. Additionally, you will be responsible for managing up to staff members, preparing the annual report, serving as the secretariat for the Valuer General/CEO Value NSW weekly meetings, preparing parliamentary-related papers and submissions, creating scripts for website animations, drafting speeches and briefing notes, and attending stakeholder meetings.

What you will bring to the role

• Demonstrated experience delivering strategic or policy outcomes in a complex and high-volume environment

• Strong communication and writing skills, with the ability to prepare clear, succinct and impactful material

• High-level organisational and time-management capabilities

• Collaborative approach with strong stakeholder engagement skills


What is an essential requirement:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or proven experience delivering policy outcomes, strategic planning or performance improvement in a complex, sensitive and high-volume environment with strong writing skills

About Us

The Valuer General is an independent statutory officer, appointed by the Governor of New South Wales to oversee the State's land valuation system.

Value NSW (VNSW), part of the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, delivers the valuation system for rating and taxing as well as compulsory acquisition compensation purposes via delegation of the Valuer General of NSW. This includes:
• Producing over 2.7 million land valuations annually valued at approx. $3 trillion, and managing $1+ billion in compulsory acquisition assessments
• Handling up to 50,000 public enquiries each year
• Ensuring quality governance aligned with the Valuation of Land Act 1916 and Land Acquisition (Just Terms Compensation) Act 1991
• Providing specialist valuation advice to government agencies and contributing to more than $84 billion in asset valuations
