- Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $130,506 to $143,921 + superannuation and leave loading
The Strategic Policy and Cabinet branch is seeking to appoint two full time ongoing Senior Policy Officers and two full time temporary Senior Policy Officers (until 30 June 2027).
About the Role
This is a unique opportunity to work in the heart of DCCEEW and gain exposure to whole-of-Department issues and priorities. The Strategic Policy and Cabinet branch provides direct support to the Deputy Secretary, Secretary, Executive Leadership Team and Ministers’ Offices. The Branch is agile and responsive, and its staff are capable, respectful, resilient and proactive.
The Senior Policy Officer will:
- Lead the research, analysis and review of strategic policy matters, identifying emerging issues and developing evidence-based recommendations to resolve problems and mitigate risks.
- Research, review and analyse issues and their impact on DCCEEW’s strategic objectives, and the people and environment of NSW, to support government decision making processes.
- Action requests from the Secretary, Minister and Executive Leadership Team and work with decision makers to consider government priorities.
- Prepare and review sensitive material such as correspondence, briefing materials and speaking points.
About You
What we are looking for:
- Adept communication skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely to various audiences.
- Strong relationship building skills: Ability to engage across all levels of government, including with senior executives.
- Sound judgement, efficiency and integrity: for considering complex and sensitive matters.
- Problem solving: Strong problem-solving skills to address policy challenges and develop innovative solutions.
- Thrives in fast-paced environments: Ability to adapt to frequently changing priorities in a high-volume and dynamic work environment.
Essential Requirements
- Experience in delivering and coordinating advice on government policy.
- Knowledge of government and/or Cabinet processes.
