The role
This role is all about keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes at the highest level of the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure. As an Executive Support Officer, you’ll support the Secretary’s Chief of Staff/Executive Director and work closely with senior leaders to manage workflows, provide confidential support, and ensure information flows effectively in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment. Whether it’s coordinating projects, managing sensitive material, or preparing information packs, you’ll be at the heart of the Office of the Secretary, helping it to operate smoothly.

This opportunity is ideal for a current Clerk Grade 5/6 employee who is looking to gain invaluable experience to grow in their career and gain experience to progress into a higher-level role.

About you:

  • You're highly organised and thrive on managing multiple priorities with confidence.
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • You understand the importance of discretion, especially when dealing with confidential or politically sensitive information.
  • You work well with others, leading with kindness and collaboration, and know how to build strong relationships across different teams and stakeholders.
  • You're confident using technology and systems to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.
  • You stay calm under pressure, solve problems creatively, and always act with integrity.
