  • Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $110,266 base to $122,058 top + super + leave loading

 

Our Finance Policy and Frameworks team is currently seeking to appoint a Financial Assurance Officer as part of the Chief Finance Officer (CFO) team.

 

About the Role

Support the CFO in designing and implementing a robust internal finance controls framework and manage finance controls activities to enable the department to operate more effectively, efficiently and safely. Responsibilities include identifying and documenting financial risks and associated control activities, supporting process improvements, managing the annual Management Certification Questionnaire, and tracking audit-related actions. The role also involves liaising across the department stakeholders to gather financial information, preparing informed insights on controls efficacy and assurance, and contributing to best practice to support informed decision-making.

 

About You

  • Risk Assessment & Financial Controls: Ability to proactively identify, assess, and document emerging financial and control risks, and support the development of mitigation strategies.
  • Process Improvement: Skilled in evaluating and implementing improvements to financial control environments and business processes to enhance efficiency and compliance.
  • Project Coordination: Experience in managing and supporting complex projects such as the Management Certification Questionnaire (MCQ), including the use of modern tools and methodologies.
  • Analytical & Research Skills: Strong capability in conducting research, analysing data, and preparing insightful reports and briefing papers to support strategic decision-making.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to liaise effectively with senior officials, executive managers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Audit & Assurance Support: Proficient in coordinating audit-related documentation, tracking progress on audit recommendations, and preparing reports for internal and external review bodies.
  • Time Management & Multitasking: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic and complex environment.
  • Regulatory Awareness: Up-to-date knowledge of accounting standards, Treasury policies, and mandatory reporting requirements, with the ability to adapt to changes quickly.
  • Judgement & Diplomacy: Capable of exercising sound judgement and discretion when handling sensitive financial information and engaging with high-level stakeholders.

 

Essential Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Business or similar field from a recognised institution and/or relevant industry experience.
  • Strong Microsoft suite skills (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, One-Note)
