About the Role
The National Parks and Wildlife Service is seeking two dedicated Rangers for ongoing positions in the Manning Great Lakes area. These roles are crucial for the conservation and public enjoyment of the stunning coastal, lakeside, and forest regions between the Manning River and the Myall Lakes.
As a Ranger in the Manning Great Lakes area, you will engage in a variety of tasks, including managing threatened species and landscape conservation programs, preserving historic heritage, controlling weeds and pest animals to enhance environmental health, and supporting visitor activities in our popular campgrounds and attractions.
This role is highly diverse, with responsibilities ranging from planning, implementing, and supervising projects, conducting environmental assessments, liaising with visitors and stakeholders, to collaborating with a wide range of individuals both within and outside the agency. No two days will feel the same!
About You
As part of a team of Rangers, you will bring your strengths in areas such as fire management, asset management, visitor engagement, community engagement, and pest or weed control in a landscape management context. Your day-to-day operations will be varied and dynamic, and you will be working closely with your team to understand and work through issues.
You will be driven by operational outcomes and, while support will be provided, you will be largely self-motivated and independent. Your strong background in operational planning will enable you to apply project management principles effectively to deliver tangible results.
Adaptability, problem-solving skills, and excellent written and oral communication abilities are essential for this role

This is a physically active role suited to candidates of all genders who are fit, enjoy working outdoors as part of a team, and are eager to learn and develop the skills and qualifications needed to contribute toward improving and maintaining some of NSW’s most precious natural places. Applicants must meet the requirements of a specific medical assessment which is inclusive of a clearance to undertake the fitness test for firefighting fitness roles (i.e. moderate level Task-Based Assessment for Firefighters) within the 12-month probationary period, if relevant.
