The role
As a Senior Media and Communications Advisor, you’ll play a pivotal role in managing complex media issues, developing creative communications campaigns, and delivering high impact content. You’ll work closely with senior leaders, helping to shape public messaging and ensure clear, timely, and effective communications.
What you’ll do:
- Drive media engagement – Develop and deliver proactive media strategies, manage high-profile media enquiries, and provide expert communications advice to internal stakeholders.
- Solve complex communication challenges – Anticipate risks, manage issues, and craft strategic responses to emerging media and public relations matters.
- Develop high-impact content – Write compelling media releases, website content, presentations, and stakeholder communications.
- Shape and deliver campaigns – Help plan and deliver integrated communication campaigns across multiple platforms.
- Monitor and analyse media trends – Provide insights on media coverage, public sentiment, and communication effectiveness.

What you will bring to the role
You are proactive and adaptable, with a strategic mindset. You have experience handling high-stakes media issues, working with senior leaders, and crafting messages that influence and engage.
You’ll succeed in this role if you:
- Have a strong understanding of media strategy and issues management.
- Are a skilled storyteller who can translate complex information into clear, compelling messaging.
- Can conceptualise and deliver visual, written, and experiential campaigns.
- Can manage multiple priorities under pressure and respond quickly to fast-moving media and communications issues.
- Work well with senior stakeholders and are comfortable providing trusted advice and counsel.
- Have an adaptable approach and can bring fresh, creative ideas to the table.
Key Knowledge and Experience
- Qualifications or experience in journalism, communications, or public affairs.
- Understanding of current affairs, contentious issues management, and end-to-end strategic communications campaign delivery.
What is an essential requirement
- Ability to participate in an on-call media roster outside of normal working hours.
