The Greater Sydney Branch, Regional Delivery is calling for expressions of interest to backfill an Assistant Project Officer Threatened Species position in the Ecosystems and Threatened Species team. This role supports the delivery of key conservation initiatives under the Saving Our Species (SoS) program.

You’ll work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to drive effective program delivery, contribute to the development of tools and databases, and assist in drafting reports and ministerial correspondence. The position involves fieldwork for various flora, fauna and fungi conservation projects across the Greater Sydney region, including the Blue Mountains. The team is collaborative, friendly and committed to delivering meaningful conservation outcomes in our region and across NSW.

 

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to be able to work both independently and collaboratively, think critically, make decisions, and build and maintain relationships. We are looking for someone with experience delivering conservation projects, including assessing work plans, operating within procurement frameworks, conducting fieldwork, collaborating with conservation partners and contractors, and meeting project deadlines. The ideal candidate will also have experience in ecological survey and proficiency with GIS mapping tools.

 

Essential Requirements

  • A degree in science or in a relevant natural resource discipline and/or demonstrated equivalent, relevant professional experience.
