The role

The Assistant Financial Accountant plays a key role in delivering high-quality accounting services and financial advice across accounts payable, receivable, financial reporting, and management accounting functions. Responsible for supporting timely and accurate recordkeeping, procurement and payment processing, statutory reporting, and project-based financial analysis—all while working collaboratively with internal stakeholders to meet their financial requirements.

 

Success in this position depends on managing a high volume of transactions independently within tight timeframes and a complex SAP environment. The role demands precision, sound judgment, and a proactive approach to balancing competing priorities and delivering consistent financial support.

What you will bring to the role

  • Solid time management and organisational skills to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines efficiently.
  • Maintains meticulous attention to detail amidst high-volume workloads, ensuring accuracy and precision in all tasks and deliverables.
  • Demonstrates a sound knowledge of financial systems and data integrity, ensuring reliable inputs and insightful reporting within a complex SAP environment.
  • Applies sound judgment in managing competing priorities, making well-informed decisions in time-sensitive and high-pressure scenarios.
  • Engages confidently with cross-functional teams, translating financial requirements into actionable outcomes while supporting broader business objectives.
  • Shows initiative and a proactive mindset in identifying process improvements, contributing to more efficient service delivery and enhanced financial support.

 

Key knowledge and experience

  • Working experience with SAP’s FI and MM modules (or similar) 
  •  Advanced skills in Excel. 
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role within a complex organization

Essential requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in accounting or business-related discipline or experience in working and delivering in a financial services environment.
