Fantastic opportunity to work for NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) Southern Rangers Branch’s Visitor Experience team as a Discovery Coordinator! This is a rare opportunity if you have a genuine interest and passion for coordinating and delivering quality guided tourism and educational experiences and contributing to the conservation of the natural and cultural heritage values of parks.
About the role
National Parks and Wildlife Service has a unique opportunity for a Discovery Coordinator to work as part of the team and contribute towards the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna and aboriginal heritage.
As the Discovery Coordinator, you will be an integral part of a small, collaborative team located in Jindabyne, NSW. You will oversee the bookings, development, implementation, promotion, delivery, monitoring, and evaluation of the NPWS Visitor Experience leisure and education programs across the Southern Rangers Branch.
You will supervise and lead a team to ensure they are motivated and trained so they can effectively and efficiently fulfil the requirements of their roles.
Your role will also focus on maximizing participation from target markets in leisure and education programs, as well as schools. Additionally, you will manage tourism partnerships aimed at generating revenue and developing both packaged and non-packaged visitor experiences within the National Park.
About You
To be successful in the role, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience in coordinating, developing, and delivering engaging guided activities or programs for diverse audiences, including individuals, families, school groups, and community organisations in cultural or outdoor/field-based settings.
- Proven understanding of the role and experience in developing and utilizing interpretive techniques during guided tours or activities.
- Strong understanding of risk management and environmental impact principles as they relate to guided tours in cultural or field settings.
- Strong communication skills to build a dynamic team and build relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
- Demonstrated business management skills and experience in finance, human resources, reporting and booking administration.
- Demonstrated skills in building management and effectively engaging with contractors
Essential Requirements:
- Current Working with Children Check
- Senior First Aid Certificate
- Demonstrated skills and experience in the development and delivery of guided educational activities for families, school students and community groups in a cultural or field setting.
- Demonstrated understanding of the role of Interpretation and experience in developing and including interpretive techniques during a guided tour or activity.
- Sound understanding of Risk Management, Minimal Impact and Bush Safety principles in relation to guided tours in a cultural or field setting.
