About the role
Our Legal division for the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water is seeking paralegals to be a part of the organisation.
As a Paralegal within the Department, you will be a part of a rotating roster across the different legal teams and may engage in work in a broad range of matters relating to energy, the environment, water, commercial and property, and litigation.
With numerous exciting projects being managed across the legal teams, our Paralegals support our lawyers in a range of matters, including some of the Department’s most high-profile cases, providing timely and effective legal and administrative support to assist in the delivery of exceptional legal services to our clients.
About You
This is an excellent opportunity to take on new challenges to develop and enhance your experience and knowledge. To be successful in this role:
- You will have the ability, as well as a demonstrated initiative, to take on a variety of tasks across different areas of law.
- You are self-motivated with the ability to work collaboratively in a team as well as autonomously with minimal supervision.
- You have good time management skills and can successfully manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with different lawyers and clients.
Essential Requirements
You must be currently enrolled in or possess:
- a Certificate IV in Legal Services, or
- an equivalent tertiary qualification associated with paralegal or legal studies, and/or
- previous employment experience as a paralegal or legal support officer in a legal office or similar environment.
