The Water for the Environment team is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Team Leader, Environmental Water and Floodplains to lead the delivery of environmental water management, floodplain planning, monitoring, reporting, community engagement and related program activities across the Macquarie, Lachlan, Snowy and Hunter regions.
This role leads a multidisciplinary, geographically dispersed team to deliver high-quality environmental water and floodplain outcomes, including supporting Basin Plan requirements, providing high-level technical advice and contributing to the conservation of wetlands, floodplains and river systems.
The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in coordinating complex program delivery, supporting evidence-based decision-making, preparing high-level advice and representing the Department in forums with government, community and other stakeholders.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring strong knowledge of environmental water management and relevant policy and legislative frameworks. You will have experience developing, implementing and monitoring strategic and operational plans for complex programs, with a proven ability to lead multidisciplinary and geographically dispersed teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.
You will be a confident communicator and collaborative leader, with the ability to provide sound technical advice, prepare high-level written material and engage effectively with senior stakeholders, government agencies, landholders, community groups and other partners. You will be comfortable navigating complex and sensitive issues, using evidence to support decision-making and driving practical solutions that contribute to wetland, floodplain and river conservation outcomes.
Key knowledge and experience
- Knowledge of the operational and strategic requirements for the successful delivery of environmental water programs in the context of current policy and legislative frameworks.
- Experience developing, implementing and monitoring strategic and operational plans for the delivery of complex programs, with a demonstrated track record of providing direction and achieving results through multidisciplinary and geographically dispersed teams.
- Experience in engaging in development and floodplain planning processes including major water projects and floodplain works and related legislation.
Essential requirements
- A degree in Science or in a relevant natural resource discipline.
