Job Summary:

Under general direction of the Associate Vice President for Philanthropy, the Philanthropy Officer will be responsible for securing major gifts ($15,000 - $1M+) for the university, and for managing a prospect/donor portfolio in various stages of identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major and principal gift prospects.
  • Identify prospects to participate on boards, committees or other programs that promote the cultivation process.
  • Serve as an advisor to the Dean and the faculty to implement and develop a comprehensive communication plan for all fund-raising initiatives.
  • Manage portfolios of fundraising prospects and manage relationships through face-to-face visits to bring major gift solicitations to closure.
  • Support and collaborate with assigned unit(s) on programmatic planning and effective communication.
  • Participate in signature events at the University and in the community that provide opportunities for strategic engagement with prospects and donors.
  • Represent the Philanthropy team in external settings, such as conferences and gatherings.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of one (1) year of progressive development experience
  • Experience with intercollegiate athletics
  • Knowledge and understanding of NCAA rules and regulation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with two years of job-related experience.
