Your role:

A Better Way is a community-based program that works directly with Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal fathers who use controlling behaviours and/or violence against their family.

Has adopted cultural healing approaches specifically designed for Aboriginal fathers and families. Further assists and supports fathers in developing positive parenting relationships with their children. Offers fathers a flexible and individualised, tailored treatment approach.

Addresses family violence to increase the safety and well-being for their children and families.

Is a 1:1 family violence, trauma-informed approach that is underpinned by the Safe & Together ™ model.

 

Make Your Mark:

  • Work through a trauma informed lens.
  • Provide tailored approaches to help fathers develop positive parenting relationships.
  • Engage with fathers who choose to use violence.
  • Conduct risk and needs assessments using relevant and contemporary frameworks, theory, and practice models.
  • Therapeutic counselling.
  • Perpetrator mapping.
  • An understanding of intergenerational trauma.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities would be highly regarded.

 

Make it Work:

  • A salary at SCHCADS level 5 which equates to around $100,776 plus super.
  • Flexible through the increments up to 5.3 (dependent upon experience). 
  • SCHCADS award level 5.
  • Negotiable through the increments dependent upon experience.
  • Full time max term role to 31st January 2027.
  • Work from multiple sites including the Orange Door and Department of Justice based at Frankston but covering the Bayside area.
