Why Your Role Matters:
The Travel Services Consultant (TSC) plays a vital role in supporting UNSW’s travel program by ensuring the effective and consistent use of the Travel Management System across all stages of the travel lifecycle. The travel program is designed to enhance customer experience while optimising efficiency, compliance and alignment with UNSW’s Duty of Care obligations.

The TSC is responsible for the application and oversight of travel policies, procedures, and systems, supporting a streamlined, cost-effective, and well-managed travel function that meets both operational and risk management requirements. This role ensures seamless integration across all aspects of the travel program and works collaboratively with UNSW Procurement, Operational Finance, Information Technology and the University’s appointed Travel Management Company.

The Travel Services Consultant reports to the Travel Services Manager, Procurement.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a liaison and point of contact for internal stakeholder groups to ensure quality service, compliance and understanding of the MyTravel program to UNSW.
  • Support the Travel Services Manager of all issues, opportunities and enhancements to the travel program, escalating as required.
  • Support the travel program by providing proactive communication management, ongoing training and system administration.
  • Coordinate and provide advice to both stakeholders and to the Travel Services Manager, Strategy and Business Capability in relation to the UNSW Travel Management System and related policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all changes to processes and systems are updated continuously, documented and disseminated appropriately, working with the appropriate teams across the University.
  • Support strategic recommendations on related reporting processes, procedures, policy, operational and budget issues which impact on the delivery and successful operations of the Travel Management System.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key representatives across the University who actively support the operations and viability of the travel program including IT, Procurement, Finance & Risk.

Skills and Experience Summary:

  • Relevant experience in providing high quality operational and/or project management support.
  • Demonstrated experience in travel coordination, procurement, or related administrative operations.
  • System administration experience (preferably with travel management systems or similar)
  • Experience supporting or assisting with the review of contract terms and vendor performance.
  • Demonstrated experience monitoring progress, adjusting plans in response to changing needs and ensuring timeframes and key deliverables are achieved.
  • Sound analytical, problem solving and conceptual skills, including the capacity to form and justify recommendations, strategies and initiatives.
  • Proven ability to develop communication, engagement plans and activities to achieve high level service outcomes.
  • Highly developed stakeholder relationship management and engagement skills with the ability to build and maintain effective professional relationships with students and staff at all levels.
  • Excellent time management skills with a high level of organisation and attention to detail.
