The UNSW Innovation Hub designs and advances new methods and processes to enable innovation across UNSW by cultivating new project ecosystems and ways of working. Connecting UNSW academics, professional staff, and students, the Hub facilitates unique opportunities for innovation within UNSW and in partnership with industry, government, and community stakeholders. Aligned with the UNSW Strategy: Progress for All, the Hub drives the creation of new programs, collaborations, systems, technologies and processes by strengthening innovation infrastructure and fostering a culture that inspires innovation.

The Innovation Hub Project Manager leads the planning, development, and execution of projects within UNSW and in partnership with external entities. Responsibilities include creating project plans, managing teams, and ensuring successful delivery through stakeholder engagement, quality assurance, and continuous monitoring. In addition to project management, the role supports the delivery of the Hub’s training, programs, and initiatives in coordination with the Hub Director, Manager, and other staff. The Project Manager also cultivates relationships with external partners to facilitate implementation and knowledge translation.


Accountabilities:

  • Oversee and manage the planning, delivery and implementation of UNSW Innovation Hub projects and initiatives to achieve operational and strategic goals.
  • Facilitate the definition of each project’s scope, objectives, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities and the strategic vision set by the Hub Director.
  • Undertake day-to-day project management, including the development, the delivery and the evaluation including input into project planning and documentation.
  • Manage project dependencies, risks, issues, change requests and financials and work with the project team to ensure appropriate arrangements are in place.
  • Manage adherence to UNSW governance pathways to ensure projects are managed within a defined, consistent and proven set of rules for project development and implementation.
  • Partner with the Project Team and key stakeholders to monitor and report on progress of projects; and identify problems and propose possible solutions.
  • Oversee and finalise effective communications with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships and networks across UNSW and with Hub Partners.
  • Develop and nurture collaborative partnerships within UNSW, and nationally and internationally, leveraging resources from UNSW Divisions, Faculties, Philanthropy, and Industry and Innovation teams to achieve successful project outcomes.
  • Lead and ensure adherence to UNSW governance pathways, maintaining consistency and best practices in project development and implementation.

Skills and Experience: 

To be considered you will hold Australian Working Rights or Australian Citizenship. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment.

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • Proven project management experience, with an in-depth understanding of the project life cycle and strategic development of project plans, objectives and documentation.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
  • Demonstrated success working effectively and collaboratively on initiatives with a range of people at different levels within an organisation.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures.
  • High level of experience working with a range of computer systems and applications relevant to the project management.
  • Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
