Why your role matters
The Operations Manager plays a key role within the Division of Education and Student Experience (DESE), providing strategic and high-level operational support to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Education and Student Experience, the Director of Operations, and other senior stakeholders. The position contributes to the planning and delivery of strategic and operational initiatives across the Division, supporting the achievement of its strategic priorities and goals.
This role reports to the Director of Operations and manages two direct reports.
Specific accountabilities for this role include:
- Deliver quality advice and information to the Director of Operations and DESE on business strategy development and governance, policy, processes and services.
 - Identify innovative opportunities to improve DESE’s performance and ensure implementation strategies are developed and effectively delivered to promote a high- performance team culture.
 - Manage multiple DESE and individual initiatives/projects including project planning and execution, monitoring, quality management, benefits realisation, and in conjunction with the Divisional FBP budgeting, forecasting and all associated reporting.
 - In conjunction with the People and Culture Business Partnering team, develop and implement the annual People and Culture plan and workforce planning strategies in line with the University and DESE objectives.
 
About You:
- Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
 - Proven skills and experience in strategic and resource planning within the higher education, goal setting and project management.
 - Demonstrated success designing and delivering strategies, programs and initiatives.
 - Ability to lead, motivate and train team members, to establish priorities and manage competing deadlines for self and others.
 - Excellent consultation, influencing and negotiation skills and proven ability to engage effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
 - Superior written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
 - High level organisational skills with proven ability to deal with multiple tasks, establish priorities and meet deadlines.
 - Advanced level of computer literacy, working with a range of computer systems and applications.
 - An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
