Casual Talent Pool – Writer – Identified

The Pro Vice-Chancellor Indigenous Education Team of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Indigenous Division, UNSW, is seeking Expressions of Interest from Indigenous educators and/or professionals with appropriate academic qualifications for casual curriculum writer roles across the UNSW Faculties and Schools:

• Arts, Design & Architecture
• Business
• Engineering
• Law & Justice
• Science

As part of the UNSW Progress for All Strategy, the embedding of Indigenous Knowledges in curriculum will be in focus during 2026. Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander curriculum writers will work in Faculty-based teams, supervised by an Indigenous curriculum lead in consultation with the PVC Indigenous Education to contribute to the drafting of course content representing Indigenous Knowledges within their discipline areas. They will collaborate with Faculty representatives, other subject-matter experts (SME) and key professional staff working in curriculum development to provide appropriate, high-quality representations of Indigenous knowledges in course content.

 This role is required to:

• review draft content from selected undergraduate or post graduate UNSW courses to confirm appropriate, discipline-relevant representations of Indigenous Knowledges
• submit drafts of proposed content for review and feedback where adjustments or new representations of Indigenous Knowledges are required in the selected courses
• respond productively to advice and feedback from the Indigenous curriculum lead representing a range of internal and external stakeholders
• provide evidence-informed, culturally responsive explanations for adjustments to draft content, assessment and support material, as required
• attend course-design meetings
• undertake any additional research (if necessary) as guided by Faculty.
• cooperate with all health and safety policies and procedures of the university and take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the health and safety of yourself or others.

You will need:

• A relevant degree and subsequent relevant experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail.
• Experience working on asynchronous educational content development and skills in using the Microsoft Office suite
• Demonstrated ability to synthesise stakeholder feedback to write and develop materials that are of high-quality, culturally responsive, clear, concise and respond to the needs of supervisors.
