Position Summary
Level 4
The Media Relations Student Assistant role has a strong focus on media engagement and liaison, with a primary responsibility of fielding requests from journalists through the UNSW Media Inbox in a timely and efficient manner.
This role will:
• Provide administrative support, including managing the media inbox, responding to and triaging phone and email enquiries, assisting with coordinating media interview and on-campus filming requests, and assisting in tracking media coverage and enquiries and updating relevant channels.
• Produce articles for the UNSW Newsroom.
• Work with the Communications Officers within the Corporate Communications team and provide ad hoc assistance to the External Communications Manager when required.
• Cooperate with all health and safety policies and procedures of the university and take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the health and safety of yourself or others.
A person engaged is generally expected to have the following skills and experience:
• A UNSW Sydney student in at least their second year of study, preferably in journalism, communications, or a media–related degree.
• Broad knowledge and understanding of UNSW Sydney including academic and corporate functions of the University.
• Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
