Universal Destinations & Experiences Internship Program:

JOB SUMMARY:

The intern will assist with management of patent program, including assisting with reviewing of material related to patent activities and patent research. They will learn patent disclosure and application processing and tracking strategy, acquire at least basic understanding of patent rules and system, develop intellectual property research skills and management skills.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides interface with outside patent attorneys for patent issues. 
  • Conducts prior art searches and coordinate search results for in-house and outside consultants. 
  • Collects and assemble prior artwork and written documentation for patent attorneys. 
  • Coordinates correspondence to and from US Patent Office with outside patent attorneys. 
  • Participates in Patent Award program. 
  • Assists with training of Universal employees regarding patents; and perform other duties as assigned. 
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training, and Team Member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • In pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution with current class standing of Sophomore or above.
  • Minimum cumulative 2.8 GPA is required. 
  • A transcript is required upon application.

PREFERRED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

  • Preferred majors include: Law, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, other technical degrees considered
  • Related Coursework: Required - Basic engineering (any discipline) and/or law.
  • Proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Exceptional research skills.
  • Familiarity with patent processes.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with at least one of mechanical, electrical, audio, video, lighting and/or architectural systems.
  • Preferred - At least some of: basic electricity; strengths and materials; fluid dynamics; applied mechanics; structures; light; audio; microprocessor design.

  • This internship will be an in-person experience, based in our Orlando offices.
  • Interns must be currently pursuing a degree at an accredited university, and must have a graduation date later than April 2026.
  • Universal Orlando does not provide housing. Interns are responsible for their own housing and transportation.
  • All of our internships are paid, and you may also qualify for housing financial assistance if applicable. The Recruiter will provide specific eligibility details.
