JOB SUMMARY:

The intern will help facilitate the design/engineering of new attraction concepts with a team of designers and engineers. They will learn collaboration with different trades involved in theme park design, overall design and engineering processes, research, documentation and presentation of new ideas. Primarily, the intern will be requested to help prepare internal documentation that captures existing attraction design/operations/maintenance information that helps the Design Engineering team operate more efficiently. The intern may also be assigned tasks, as they are identified, to help with specific attractions under active concept development. There may be opportunities to participate in brainstorms or other R&D projects if applicable.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Research and compile existing attraction information to facilitate future designs.
  • Develop ideas for ride and show systems and new attraction concepts alongside ride designers, engineers, and other related disciplines.
  • Ability to generate 3D models as well as 2D CAD drawings or sketches as needed.
  • Assist with the development and validation of performance specifications for new attractions to help inform the design.
  • Perform hand calculations as needed.
  • Support prototyping/mock-up development.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training, and Team Member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • In pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution with current class standing of Sophomore or above.
  • Minimum cumulative 2.8 GPA is required. 
  • A transcript is required upon application.

PREFERRED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

  • Preferred majors include: Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Robotics Engineering
  • Coursework in machine design, kinematics, and GD&T preferred.
  • Experience with solid modeling required (Solidworks or 3DSMax experience preferred).
  • Understanding of stress analysis/mechanics of materials.
  • Background in studio art or digital media preferred.
  • Strong communication skills.

  • This internship will be an in-person experience, based in our Orlando offices.
  • Interns must be currently pursuing a degree at an accredited university, and must have a graduation date later than April 2026.
  • Universal Orlando does not provide housing. Interns are responsible for their own housing and transportation.
